Nick Nanton, Esq., Orlando Music Lawyer, has recently been chosen as one of 12 delegates to represent the Island of Barbados at MIDEM, the world’s premier music conference, in Cannes, France.

Orlando, Fla. – January 7, 2009– Nick Nanton, Esq., Orlando based music lawyer, was recently selected by the Barbados government to represent the island at this year’s MIDEM Music Festival in Cannes, France, taking place on January 18-21, 2009.  Nanton was chosen by Invest Barbados, which was created by the government of Barbados to be responsible for attracting, winning and sustaining international investment for Barbados.

Nick Nanton, Esq. will be one of 12 delegates representing Barbados attending the MIDEM festival later this month, which has become one of the world’s largest and most respected music and business conventions. Nanton, who was born in Barbados and has family roots that run through Barbados dating back to the 1600’s, has been working with the act “Kite” from the island since 2005 and has given the island recognition through the worldwide licensing of Kite’s music in film and television.  Nanton was chosen for his unique blend of expertise in music, business and marketing.   Nanton is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and votes on the annual GRAMMY® awards, an award-winning songwriter and record producer, and spent much of his career as an artist manager.

MIDEM consists of a tradeshow, conferences and concerts over a 4-day period. The MIDEM tradeshow is where all the music sectors get face-to-face and do business, analyze trends and build alliances.  The conferences offer panels and workshops providing top-level discussions and ideas.  The most intriguing aspect of MIDEM is the enormous amount of musical talent gathered for a series of live performances, promotion and networking. For music showcases, MIDEM carefully selects bands with high export potential. Showcases strongly contribute to artists’ development and allow delegates to discover or promote artists.

Nick Nanton, Esq. said, “I am thrilled and honored to be chosen to represent Barbados at this enormous event!  MIDEM is the ‘cream of the crop” when it comes to music industry movers and shakers, as well as some of the world’s best up and coming music talents.  MIDEM also offers an opportunity for the global music community to meet face to face to continue tearing down borders and building alliances through the universal language of music.”
